Restore at Kept Auto in Ashland, MO

What this is

Restore is where the machine comes out. A one-step polish takes the majority of light swirls and marring out of the clear coat rather than filling them in, which is the difference between paint that looks glossy and paint that looks deep.

Headlights come back from yellow, the engine bay stops hiding things, and the brightwork gets polished. It is the package for the car you are keeping for another five years — and the one to book before you photograph a car you are selling, because it is the only detailing money that reliably pays itself back.

Paint depth is checked before any machine work begins. On a repainted or thin panel we will tell you what we are not going to do and why, before the polisher touches it.

Book this if

  • The paint is dull, swirled or hazy in direct sun
  • The headlights have gone yellow or cloudy
  • You are listing the car privately or taking it to a trade-in appraisal
  • You are keeping the car and want it back to its best before it gets coated

Questions

Restore

What does Restore cost?

$349 for a car, $389 for a mid-size crossover, $429 for a full-size SUV or pickup.

How is a one-step polish different from full paint correction?

One step is a single compound-and-polish pass that removes most light defects. Multi-stage paint correction is two or three passes chasing near-perfection on deeper scratches, and it is a separate, longer, more expensive booking. Most people are happy stopping at one step.

Should I get this before a ceramic coating?

Yes. A coating locks in whatever the paint looks like on the day it goes on, so any correction has to happen first. Restore then coating is the right order.
