What this is
A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that cures into a hard, hydrophobic layer chemically bonded to your clear coat. It is not a wax that sits on top and washes away; it is a sacrificial surface that takes the bug acid, bird droppings, salt and UV instead of your paint.
What you notice day to day is simpler than the chemistry: water sheets off, dirt does not key into the surface, and washing the car takes half as long because nothing is really stuck to it.
The result is almost entirely down to prep, which is why the price includes it. Coating over swirls locks the swirls in under a layer that is designed to last years. Every coating we do starts with decontamination and at least a single-stage polish — there is no version of this that is a quick afternoon.
Plan on the car staying with us overnight. Coatings need controlled temperature and undisturbed cure time.

Ceramic Coating
How long does a ceramic coating actually last?
Two to five years depending on the product tier, how the car is stored and how it is washed. Anyone quoting "lifetime" is describing a warranty document, not a coating.
Does it make the car scratch-proof?
No, and be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. It adds meaningful resistance to chemical etching, UV fade and light marring. It will not stop a shopping cart or an automatic car wash brush.
Why does it cost this much?
Because most of the price is the day of correction and prep underneath it, not the bottle. A cheap coating quote almost always means that prep was skipped — and a coating over swirled paint is a two-year commitment to swirled paint.
Can I still take it through a car wash?
Touchless, yes. Brush tunnels will scratch a coated car exactly like an uncoated one. We will show you the two-bucket maintenance wash, or you can put the car on a maintenance plan with us.
